TOP 10 WEDDING TRENDS FOR 2024
By Luno & Stella Design Co-Ordinator, Emily Coombes

With the new year just around the corner, and many couples still hoping for a 2024 nuptials, lets have a look at the upcoming trends for weddings in 2024. Here are our top 10 to keep an eye out for!

1. Weekend-Long Celebrations

With Covid restrictions now well in our past, people are making the most of being able to spend time with their loved ones, and what could be better than making a whole weekend out of your celebrations? This means people can arrive in plenty of time the day before (let’s be honest, there’s always someone running late!), and having the day after where people can wake up at their leisure is always going to be a plus with those inevitable hangovers! With wedding guest lists getting longer too, one night is sometimes never enough time to catch up with your most important people. We are always hearing “my wedding day went by so quickly!” – well this is the perfect way to fix that!

2. Wedding Rentals

2023 was all about the DIY weddings, but curating décor and making signs not only takes up lots of time, but money too. Sourcing your own wedding furnishings can be like finding a needle in a haystack; you know what you are looking for but where do you find it?! There are a growing number of companies that will not only rent out table décor, but crockery, furniture, soft furnishings and even plants – yes, plants! We have a long list of suppliers at hand to ensure you can have those beautiful items there on your day.

3. Dress Codes

A wedding dress code has always been an important part of the day – is it black tie, smart, smart casual? In 2024, however, we are taking this to the next level. Tighter dress codes are on the rise and more brides and grooms-to-be are wanting to tie everything together, right down to what their guests are wearing. This is mostly done when there is a leading theme or colour, but some betrothed are even more particular that that! We do suggest giving your guests a little leigh way, however, we are huge fans of the very visually pleasing photographs!

4.Brave the Bold!

In all parts of lifem whether it be interiors, fashion and weddings, neutral colour palettes have been unavoidable in the last couple of years. In 2024, the bold and vibrant colours we all know and love are making a come back! Florals and brighter shades are coming up everywhere – in table décor, wedding stationary and even bridal gowns. Perfect for those spring and summer weddings, why not brave the bold!

5. Websites for the win!

Wedding organisation is difficult for any bride and groom-to-be, so in any way this can be made easier, let’s be honest, you’re going to take it! One way is to set up a wedding. You can use this for everything - sending your save the dates and formal invitations, receiving back your RSVP’s, guests choosing their wedding breakfast menu, and even providing links to local places to stay, if necessary. There really is nothing it can’t do! With experience in setting up wedding websites for upcoming nuptials, we can guide you through the options that best suit you and your day.

6. Candid captures

Let’s be honest, how many times have you looked through your parents wedding album? And what photographs from the day have they got framed and up in the home? We still believe that getting photos of the Bride and Groom alone are important, as well as those with your closest family. However, sometimes the most beautiful moments of the day are captured in the moment. Cut down your posed photograph time in your day to as little as possible and spend more time celebrating with your loved ones; we promise you, some of your favourite photographs will come off the back of it!

7. Celebrant Ceremonies

With more and more love-birds wanting a more relaxed and less-formal wedding day, a celebrant-led ceremony is the perfect way to get that more personal touch. Not only can the ceremony be tailored to you (which is not always possible with religious and many registrar-led ceremonies), but they can also happen anywhere the Bride and Groom wish (with the land-owners permission of course!). It’s just one more way you can make the wedding truly yours.

8. Pearls are back!

My favourite wedding accessory is finally back, and with a bang too! Pearls are popping up everywhere; in décor, as delicate features on stationary, in florals and in bridal fashion too. There are some superstitions around pearls and weddings, but when you see how beautiful they can be scattered in a bouquet or sprinkled down the brides veil, I think they are the perfect 2024 wedding accessory.

9. Saving pennies

Especially in the UK, the cost of living is increasing and therefore the amount of disposable income for couples is falling. There is no need to panic though; you can still create your perfect day without breaking the bank! With our endless list of suppliers covering all budgets, we are here to ensure you still have the wedding day of your dreams.

10. And the planet!

We all know our planet has been suffering for a long time, and we should all be doing what we can to be more sustainable in every part of our lives. With this in mind, green weddings are on the rise, and this doesn’t mean forgoing all the gorgeous details – it just means being conscious of your choices. With more eco-friendly décor and greener options for catering, stationary and venues being available on the market, planning a planet-saving wedding is no more work than a less environmentally-friendly affair!

Which wedding trends will you be following next year? We can’t wait to see them all come to life!
