LUCY

Tell us about yourself.

I’m 45, mum to four young adults and grandmother to two wonderful girls. I am a T12 paraplegic, and I have no feeling or movement from just below my waist. I use a manual wheelchair. I enjoy crafts, jigsaw puzzles, cooking and volunteering at the local community larder.

What inspired you to be involved in this campaign shoot?

I was inspired to get involved with the campaign shoot because I wanted to promote wheelchair models and show that being disabled and in a wheelchair doesn’t stop you from doing anything. Also, I want to show other disabled people that all things are possible.

What is your proudest achievement?

Bringing up my four children up to be wonderful, polite, hardworking adults.

Which women inspire you the most and why?

My mum inspires me the most. She is a wonderful woman in every way and I’m so glad I have such an amazing role model to follow.

This year’s International Women’s Day 2024 theme is #InspireInclusion. What does this mean to you?

Including ALL women no matter what and inspire all women in every way we can.

The shoot was amazing. A really fun, positive experience. Great accessible building.

Everyone was so kind and helpful on the day and in answering questions leading up to shoot.
