DECOR: KALIEGH, FIKA            EVENT HIRE

Tell us about yourself and what you do.

I'm origanlly from Kent but moved to Devon just over two years ago with my partner, two children and my little Chihuahua. I have worked in the wedding industry for over ten years, starting as a bridal hair and make up artist. I then went on to help with my partner with his wedding photography business, then going on to working for a styling company. Following this, I went on to be a wedding co-ordinator. I have loved every part of this journey, however I'm now back to working a wedding stylist and having my own decor hire company covering Devon & Cornwall.

What inspired you to be involved in this campaign shoot?

I believe in uplifting women, supporting them in achieving success, and realizing their individual aspirations. I firmly believe that women who actively empower and encourage other women possess a unique and admirable quality. We are here to build each other up.

What is your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry?

I've always had a love for styling, whether it be my home or weddings. I'm at my happiest when I'm creating, designing and bringing ideas together. Being able to do this whilst working with the most incredible couples is simply the best, as their unique stories and visions enrich the creative process.

What is your proudest achievement?

One of my most proudest moments in my career was achieving success within the first year of launching my decor hire and styling company. It was a surreal moment, one of those instances where you need to pinch yourself to believe it's real. The satisfaction of not only establishing the business but also thriving in its initial year is an unparalleled feeling.

Which women inspire you the most and why?

There are ladies in my family and friendship groups that inspire me everyday, however one person in particular that comes to mind is a recent collegue who is not afraid to be herself - she's quirky, fun and is always true to herself. She's kind, caring, genuine and puts others before herself. I've always been quite concious of what people think of me and the want to please everyone, but her example reminds me that embracing my true self is the most fulfilling path to take.

This year’s International Women’s Day 2024 theme is #InspireInclusion. What does this mean to you?

It's tempting to fixate solely on the images and narratives we encounter daily, especially within the realm of social media. It's important to realise that everyone is diverse and unique, and each and every one of us are blessed to have these differences. As a parent of a teenage daughter, navigating the pressures to conform to the "norms" perpetuated on social platforms, I understand the challenges firsthand, so spreading awareness of peoples individuality is something that needs to be celebrated.

Being part of the Luno & Stella "Every Bride is Beautiful" Campaign was great - a dream to work with and be part of such a wonderful shoot with wonderful woman. It was a pleasure to be involoved. Lets keep celebrating individuality and boosting womans confidence!
